Monday Oct 26

Students learned about the impact of the cotton gin and railroad in Georgia.  Student's took notes on a guided note sheet.

Tuesday Oct 27

Today's warm up was a comprehension check over the materials we have learned about over the last few days.  Students also created a magazine advertisement and article to demonstrate knowledge of the technological innovations of the time period (Cotton Gin/Railroad).

Wednesday Oct 28

Today we learned about the Creek Indians in Georgia and their removal.  Students took notes on a guided note sheet.  Afterwards, students received and filled out a study guide for the quiz Friday.

Thursday Oct 29

We continued our discussion of the Creek removal with a lesson on perspectives.  Students read portions of the Treaty of York and put wrote out their reactions as if they were different people (perspectives).  Students then received a paper that made them a prosecutor or a defender of William McIntosh.  Students then drafted an opening argument/statement to persuade a jury/judge.

Week 9 Oct 19 - Oct 23

Monday Oct 19

After today's warm up (catching up with what students did on Fall Break), students logged into TEAMS and completed a research assignment on the Establishment of UGA.

Homework: Work on DAR Essay, due ASAP.  

Tuesday Oct 20

Today we discussed the 5 different capitals of Georgia and the reason for the moves.  Students recorded notes on a guided note sheet.  Afterwards, students executed a read aloud review of the Establishment of UGA and the Georgia Capitals.

Wednesday Oct 21

Students completed an assignment in TEAMS.  Students enriched their knowledge of the 5 GA capitals.

Thur Oct 22

Today we learned how land was given away in Georgia after the Revolutionary War, including the Yazoo Land Fraud.  Students took notes on a guided note sheet.

Week 8 Oct 5 - Oct 8

Monday Oct 5

Today students worked in TEAMS and Class notebook.  Students researched the American Revolution in GA and the Articles of Confederation.

After today's warm up, students executed a 'break out' activity where they solved clues and enriched their knowledge of the American Revolution.

Wednesday Oct 7

We spent most of the class reviewing for the test using online review platforms.  Towards the end of class, students finalized the cover page for their DAR essay and continued writing.  Warm ups are due tomorrow.
